So, school starts tomorrow. I'm sort of feeling 50/50 about it. I want to go back, because the sooner it starts the sooner, it's over. but at the same time, this break has been faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaabulous. Amazing. Wonderful. Good. Astonishingly wonderful. Awe-inspiring. Awesome. Brilliant. Cool. Divine. Dynamite. Enjoyable. Excellent. Fabulous. Fantastic. Fine. Groovy. Incredible. Magnificent. Marvelous. Miraculous. Outstanding. Peachy. Phenomenal. Pleasant. Pleasing. Prime. Remarkable. Sensational. Staggering. Startling. Stupendous. Super. Superb. Surprising. Swell. Terrific. Tremendous. Wondrous. Thank you, thesaurus.com.
I don't want it to end.
But in an effort to keep you all entertained, I thought I would give you a taste of what I'm expecting this semester.
Straight from the catalog, here's what I have in store:
Clinical Methods
A review of clinical methodologies used in speech-language pathology and audiology, including specific c clinical activities, report writing, and professional development.
Speech Science
An introduction to the production, perception, and processing of speech, including acoustic phonetics.
Hearing Science
An introduction to the physics of sound, acoustics, and psycho-acoustics.
Language Development
An introduction to current theories of language and language development, including methods of obtaining and analyzing language samples.
Clinical Audiology
An introduction to hearing assessment techniques and auditory disorders, with adaptation of testing for special populations such as infants, geriatrics, and different language backgrounds. Th e student will gain proficiency with pure-tone, speech, and impedance testing techniques.
Check back soon for updates about what I think about each class! I promise I'll be more entertaining and less "technical" than this catalog-talk.
