I have seen bits and pieces of this poem (written by Mother Theresa, I think) all over the place. I came across is again today and decided to incorporate some of my own ideas into it, as well.

People are often unreasonable, irrational, and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
People will annoy you and say hurtful things. Show them Jesus anyway.
People will seek to argue with you about the stupidest things in the world. Be friendly anyway. (Not committing murder is also a good thing to do anyways, too.)
People will mock and belittle you for their own selfish pleasure. Pray for them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
People will say you shouldn't believe in Someone you can't see. Know that Jesus died for you and live for Him every single day anyway.
If you are selfless and giving, people will take advantage of you. Be kind and selfless anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some unfaithful friends and some genuine enemies. Succeed anyway.
People will say things they don't mean that will still cut you to the bone. Don't stoop to their level anyway. (No matter how much you want to.) Two wrongs don't make a right.
If you are honest and sincere, people may deceive you. Be honest and sincere anyway.
What you spend years creating, others could (and probably will) destroy it overnight. Create anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, some may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
People will point out your failings and never see the good in you. Know the good in yourself anyway.
People will call you spoiled and rich. Blow them off and count your blessings anyway.
The good you do today will often be forgotten by tomorrow. Do good anyway.
People will claim you are arrogant and rude. Be humble and gracious anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will probably never be enough. Give your best anyway.

People will be judgmental and make inaccurate assumptions. Refrain from making your own judgments about such people anyway. (It's such a waste of time; spoken from experience.)

The biggest men and women with the biggest ideas can be shot down by the smallest men and women with the smallest minds. Think big anyway.
People favor underdogs but follow only top dogs. Fight for a few underdogs anyway.
People will often not treat you the way they would want you to be treated themselves. Follow the Golden Rule anyway.
People will encourage you to give up and take the road more easily traveled. Dream big and grab the GPS anyway. 
What you spend years building may be destroyed overnight. Build anyway.
People who really need help but may attack you if you do help them. Help people anyway.
People will try to tell you to not believe in your own dreams. Believe in them anyway.
People will judge you although they know nothing about you. Forgive them anyway.
People will lie to you. Understand that not everyone is a liar anyway.
Parents will mess up. Be the best child you can anyway.
You'll have some fellow employees (and likely a boss, too) who seems impossible to get along with. Be the best employee you can anyway.
People will die long before you are ready for them to leave you. Have faith that they are in a better place, free from pain and that you will see them one day again anyway.
Disease will overpower the human body, and there's nothing you can do. Believe in the power of miracles anyway. 
Children will mess up. Be the best parent you can anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth. Give the world the best you have anyway.
Give the best you have, and it will never be enough. Give your best anyway.
In the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
